Saline Systems looks at basic and applied research on halophilic organisms and saline environments, from gene systems to ecosystems.

The journal aims to enhance communication between systems biologists, genomicists, microbiologists, limnologists, ecologists, biogeochemists, biotechnologists, and conservationists. Integration is intended to foster greater understanding of saline environments, halophilic and halotolerant organisms, and their underlying fundamental processes. Environments of interest include natural lakes, marshes, springs, lagoons, estuaries, solar panes, and evaporitic and arid environments, and their diverse micro and macroflora and fauna.

The journal will consider the following article types: research, book reviews, database articles, commentaries, methodology articles, short reports and reviews.
